Cardiac Deconditioning
Doing more with the heart you have.
For medically stable patients with heart failure or deconditioning after a cardiac hospitalization, carefully progressed physical therapy can improve strength, walking tolerance and daily function.
What Many People Experience
- Weak legs and short walking distances
- Needing to rest partway through everyday tasks
- Difficulty with stairs or getting up from a chair
- Reduced independence at home
- Worry about overdoing it
What Physical Therapy Addresses
- Carefully graded strength and endurance work with symptom monitoring
- Energy conservation and pacing strategies
- Walking, stairs and transfers
- Balance and fall-risk reduction
- Close communication with your cardiology team
Who It's Appropriate For
Appropriately selected patients who are medically stable, whose cardiologist supports supervised activity, and who want to regain walking tolerance and independence.
All patients complete clinical screening, and physician clearance is required before enrollment. Nurtura works alongside your cardiologist and any cardiac rehabilitation program you attend, never in place of them.
Where Care Happens
Virtual sessions from home, anywhere in California. For patients in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area, in-person physical therapy may be available when clinically appropriate or necessary.
Coverage
Medicare Part B in-network. Private pay rates available.
