After Bypass Surgery
Getting your strength back after bypass surgery.
Bypass surgery repairs blood flow to the heart. Recovering the strength and stamina to live your life is a separate job, and it is the one we do.
What Many People Experience
- Weakness in the legs and arms after weeks of reduced activity
- Getting tired walking across the house or around the block
- Difficulty standing up from a chair or getting out of bed
- Caution with stairs, lifting or reaching while the chest heals
- Uncertainty about how much activity is safe
What Physical Therapy Addresses
- Progressive leg and whole-body strengthening within sternal precautions
- Walking endurance, paced to your cardiologist's guidance
- Sit-to-stand, bed mobility and transfers
- Stair training and balance
- A clear, safe plan for returning to daily activities
Who It's Appropriate For
Patients cleared by their surgical and cardiology team who are home, medically stable, and finding daily activity harder than before surgery.
All patients complete clinical screening, and physician clearance is required before enrollment. Nurtura works alongside your cardiologist and any cardiac rehabilitation program you attend, never in place of them.
Where Care Happens
Virtual sessions from home, anywhere in California. For patients in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area, in-person physical therapy may be available when clinically appropriate or necessary.
Coverage
Medicare Part B in-network. Private pay rates available.
